GLOSSARY

What is indexing?

DEFINITION

Indexing is when a search engine analyses a crawled page and stores it in its searchable database. A page that is not indexed cannot appear in search results.

Google does not index every page it crawls. Duplicates are grouped, and low-quality content or a noindex rule can keep a page out. Search Console's Page indexing report explains the reason for each excluded URL.
