The short version
- Without your OK, we use only the cookies and storage the site needs to work, and to remember your choice.
- With your OK (analytics and marketing), we also run a live chat service. It records how you use the site and can recognise you and your company. It does not load at all until you say yes.
- With your OK to analytics, Google Analytics counts visits and form use. It does not load before you choose. Rejecting is as easy as accepting.
- You can change your choice at any time from “Cookie settings” in the footer.
This summary helps you read. The full text below is what applies.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. Websites also use similar tools, such as local storage and session storage, for the same jobs. In this policy “cookies” means all of them.
Some are needed for a site to work. Others measure how a site is used, or show you ads. The rules in the EU and UK (the ePrivacy rules and the GDPR) require your consent for anything that is not strictly necessary.
What this site uses
This is the complete list. We update it before adding anything new.
Strictly necessary
Remember your cookie choice and keep our forms safe from bots. The site does not work properly without them, so they are always on.
wt_consent
- Cookie
- Webtec (first party)
- Stores your cookie choice so we do not ask again on every page.
- 12 months
wt_consent
- Local storage
- Webtec (first party)
- A copy of the same choice, used if cookies are blocked in your browser.
- Until you clear site data
Cloudflare Turnstile
- Cookie
- Cloudflare, Inc.
- Tells people from bots on our forms. It may set short-lived cookies or use browser storage while the check runs.
- Session or shorter
wt-support-draft
- Session storage
- Webtec (first party)
- Carries a support question you typed across pages so you do not retype it.
- Until you close the tab
Analytics
Lets Google Analytics count visits and which pages and forms are used, and lets our live chat service record how you use the site: the pages you visit, how long you stay, where you click and scroll. We use it to improve the site and to see what you were looking at when you chat with us. Off unless you switch it on.
_kk_visit_history
- Session storage
- Our live chat service (third party)
- The list of pages you visited in this tab, shown to our team when you chat.
- Until you close the tab
kk_tab_id
- Session storage
- Our live chat service (third party)
- Tells your open tabs apart, so a visit is recorded once.
- Until you close the tab
kk_pending_events
- Local storage
- Our live chat service (third party)
- Briefly holds recorded page activity (clicks, scrolling) until it is sent to the service.
- Until it is sent, usually seconds
_ga, _ga_Q836CHNEXC
- Cookie
- Google Analytics (Google Ireland Ltd)
- Counts visits and which pages and forms are used, so we can see what works and improve the site. We send no names, emails or messages to Google.
- Up to 2 years
Marketing
Lets our live chat service recognise you when you come back, estimate which company you work for, and link your visits to details you type into a form. That goes into our sales records so we can follow up. Off unless you switch it on. The live chat only appears when both analytics and marketing are on.
kka_user_session_…
- Local storage
- Our live chat service (third party)
- Recognises you as the same visitor across visits, so your chat history and visits stay linked to you.
- Until you clear site data
Our live chat, and what it records
The chat in the corner of the page comes from a live chat service we use. It is more than a chat window, so it only loads if you switch on both analytics and marketing. If you reject, or make no choice, it never loads and none of the items below are set.
When it is on, the service:
- Records your session on our site: the pages you visit, how long you stay, where you move, click and scroll. Our team can watch a visit live or as a replay, to see what you were looking at when you chat with us. Passwords and similar fields are never recorded.
- Looks up your IP address to estimate which company or organisation you are visiting from, and scores how interested you seem, so our sales team knows who to follow up with.
- Reads the details you type into a form on our site when you send it (your name, email, phone number, company and website), and links them to your visits, so it knows who you are. Password fields are never read.
- Keeps the messages you send in the chat. Some replies may come from an AI assistant; a person from our team can take over at any time.
- Passes what it learns about you to our sales records (CRM).
The service stores its data on servers in Australia and protects transfers from the EU and UK with the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses. More detail, including how long data is kept, is in our privacy policy.
If you switch analytics or marketing off later, we clear the chat’s storage from your browser and reload the page without it.
Google Analytics
If you allow analytics, we load Google Analytics. It counts visits, which pages you view and when a form is sent, so we can see what works and improve the site. We send Google the name of the form and its category, never your name, email address or message.
It runs in Google’s consent mode and loads only on trywebtec.com, after you choose. If you switch analytics off later, it stops. Google Ireland Ltd provides it under its own privacy policy, and may transfer data to the USA under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
What this site does not use
The site loads no advertising or social media pixel and no social media plug-in. Fonts are served from our own domain, not from Google’s servers.
If we add anything new, we will add it to the list above first, keep it switched off until you allow it, and update the date on this page.
Third-party services
A few features load from other companies. Cloudflare provides the bot check on our forms. Call booking on our booking page runs through Calendly: the booking widget comes from Calendly, asks for its own cookie consent and may set its own cookies once it loads. Videos or social posts we embed would load from their own providers. Those companies act under their own privacy policies.
Change your choice
You can open the cookie settings at any time with the “Cookie settings” link at the bottom of every page, or with the button below.
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking necessary cookies may stop our forms from working. And if your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a request to keep marketing off.
How long we remember your choice
We store your choice for 12 months, then ask again. We keep a record of the choice (yes or no for each category, the date, and the version of this policy) so we can show we respected it. The record lives in your own browser. We do not send it to a server.
