WHERE IT STARTED
A small click base, on page two
In June 2025, the first full month of the engagement, Search Console recorded 349 clicks for teambuildingroi.com. Average position read 31.1 that month, but part of that page-four reading came from how Google counted impressions before mid-September 2025. So position is measured from October 2025, the first full month after the change, when it was 19.0. The keyword baseline below uses the first 90 days, 1 June to 29 August 2025.

- ProblemA small click base.349 clicks in June 2025 and 932 across June to August. Clicks then drifted down to 169 by December.
- ProblemRanking too deep to earn a click.Even on Google’s stricter count from mid-September 2025, average position in October 2025 was 19.0. That is page two, where few searchers look.
- ProblemThe yardstick moved mid-record.In mid-September 2025 Google stopped serving 100 results per page. In the week of 1 September, teambuildingroi.com had 18,920 impressions at position 33.6. Two weeks later it had 6,801 at position 15.3. We treat that as a reporting change, not a result.
- ProblemA clear, local goal.At onboarding, the stated aim was the top three and the map pack across Bay Area locations, then Southern California. That set the order of the work: locations first.
THE RESULT
Fifteen months, six numbers
Every figure comes from Google Search Console for teambuildingroi.com. Where Google’s September 2025 counting change would flatter a comparison, we compare like with like. Nothing modelled, nothing extrapolated.

The month it turned
Clicks tripled going into January
Clicks drifted down from June to December 2025, reaching 169. In January 2026 they were 517, and no month since has dropped below that. We have no earlier January to compare against, so part of the jump may be seasonal. What followed is not: March to August 2026 averaged 1,236 clicks a month.

SEARCH FOOTPRINT
From 1,108 first-page keywords to 3,395
Clicks are the outcome. The search footprint deepened alongside them. The total grew by 70%, but most of the change happened at the top: keywords on page one roughly tripled. This compares the first 90 days of the engagement against the most recent 90, measured in Search Console. The first window falls before Google’s September 2025 change, so it was counted more loosely.

A separate unit from the keyword bars: clicks recorded inside each 90-day window.
The three keyword measures share one scale, with 7,035 as the widest measure. Keyword counts are Search Console data via Ahrefs. Clicks are shown separately and are site totals from the Search Console export. First 90 days: 1 June to 29 August 2025. Most recent 90: 22 June to 19 September 2026. Before mid-September 2025, Google also counted queries where the site appeared beyond page one more freely. Counting is stricter now, so if anything the growth in total keywords is understated.

THE WORK
Locations first. Then the links between them.
Taken from our project records. The project summary sets out the approach and rules agreed for this engagement rather than a dated work log, so the second panel describes them as that.

Onboarding and goals
- Onboarding questionnaire completed 3 June 2025
- Core programmes recorded: office Olympics, team treasure hunts, Robot Rally, charity bike builds
- Buyers identified: executive assistants, meeting planners, hotels and destination management companies
- Goal set: the top three and the map pack across Bay Area locations, then Southern California

The rules we work to
- Location first: locations are the primary axis of the site, activities the secondary one
- City pages link up to their location hub, and the hub links back down
- No cannibalisation fix without Search Console query overlap of 50% or more
- Anchor text that reads naturally, with quote-request anchors kept for the conversion page
- Thin pages get one or two links at most, and are flagged to the client
- Reporting centred on clicks per page, as the client asked
1,108 → 3,395keywords on page one, the first 90 days against the most recent 90

Google stopped serving 100 results per page in mid-September 2025. Impressions and average position before that point are not directly comparable with the months after it. Clicks were not affected in the same way.
What it added up to
From 1,108 first-page keywords to 3,395, with every month accounted for
- 01 / 04Five times the summer clicksJune to August 2026 brought 5,018 clicks, against 932 in the same three months of 2025. Same season, so the comparison is like for like.
- 02 / 04Depth, not just breadth1,398 keywords now sit in the top three, up from 609, and 3,395 are on page one, up from 1,108. Ranking on page one is visibility. Ranking in the top three is where clicks actually happen.
- 03 / 04The turn came in JanuaryClicks were 169 in December 2025 and 517 in January 2026. Every month since has been higher than that January. The timing is the signal here, not a claim of causation.
- 04 / 04Measured the whole wayEvery figure here comes from Google Search Console, for every month on record, including the month Google changed how it counts. No modelling, no projections.
