GLOSSARY

What is site migration?

DEFINITION

A site migration is any move that changes a site’s addresses, domain, platform or structure in a way search engines must follow. A redesign that changes URLs is a migration.

Google’s documentation separates moves with URL changes from moves without them, and says rankings can fluctuate for weeks or longer afterwards.
