GLOSSARY

What is search intent? (user intent)

DEFINITION

Search intent is the purpose behind a search query: what the person wants to learn, compare, buy or find. Matching it is central to ranking and converting.

Ahrefs groups intent as informational, commercial, transactional and navigational. You check it by looking at the type, format and angle of the pages already ranking for the query.
