GLOSSARY

What is sample size?

DEFINITION

Sample size is the number of visitors in a test or measurement. Small samples produce wide, unreliable ranges, so a rate from a few dozen visits tells you very little.

The number needed rises as the baseline rate falls and as the lift you want to detect shrinks. Work it out before a test starts.
