GLOSSARY

What is minimum detectable effect? (MDE)

DEFINITION

The minimum detectable effect is the smallest change in conversion rate that a test is designed to catch. The smaller the effect you want to detect, the more visitors the test needs.

Choose it as a business decision: how small an improvement is still worth the effort? Then use a sample size calculator to see whether your traffic can support the test.
