GLOSSARY

What is microcontent?

DEFINITION

Microcontent is a short piece of text that must be understood on its own, such as a headline, page title, link label or email subject line.

Nielsen Norman Group uses the term because these pieces often appear without the page around them, in search results, feeds and inboxes. They need to stand on their own.
