GLOSSARY

What is front-loading?

DEFINITION

Front-loading means putting the most informative words at the start of a headline, heading, bullet or sentence. Scanners notice the first words of each line more than the last.

Nielsen Norman Group advises starting headings, paragraphs and bullet points with words that carry meaning, because readers scan the left edge of text.
