GLOSSARY

What is attribution model?

DEFINITION

An attribution model is the rule that decides which ad click or visit gets credit for a conversion when several touched the customer. Google Ads uses data-driven attribution by default for most conversion actions.

Models divide credit among touchpoints the platform can see. They cannot see offline decisions or word of mouth, so they describe, and do not prove, what caused a sale.
