GLOSSARY

What is Keyword?

DEFINITION

A keyword is a word or phrase people type or say when searching, such as emergency plumber Stockholm or how much does a website cost. Choosing keywords means understanding the language your customers actually use and matching each page to one clear topic.

A page is not limited to a single exact phrase: search engines understand related wording, so writing naturally about a subject beats repeating a phrase. Stuffing the same words over and over reads badly and does not help. Search volume, how competitive a term is and what the searcher wants all affect whether a keyword is worth targeting. Why it matters: Pages that match what customers really search for are the ones that get found, so the wrong keywords mean the wrong audience.
