GLOSSARY

What is category entry point?

DEFINITION

A category entry point is a thought, need or situation that prompts someone to buy in a category, such as treating yourself or an approaching deadline. Brands grow by being linked to more of them.

The Ehrenberg-Bass Institute uses the concept to measure mental availability. For a service business, list the moments that make buyers start looking, then publish content for each one.
