GLOSSARY

What is BANT? (budget, authority, need, timeline)

DEFINITION

BANT is a four-part checklist for qualifying a lead: budget, authority, need and timeline. It is a practitioner framework, commonly attributed to IBM, not the product of published research.

It is simple and useful as a prompt. Its limits are that buyers often cannot name a budget early and that the person you speak to may not decide.
