GLOSSARY

What is training crawler?

DEFINITION

A training crawler is a bot that collects web content that may be used to train an AI company’s models. Blocking one signals that your content should not be used for training, and it does not by itself remove you from that company’s search answers.

Examples are GPTBot and ClaudeBot. Vendors document these separately from their search and user-triggered bots.
