GLOSSARY

What is retrieval-augmented generation? (RAG)

DEFINITION

Retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) is a method where an AI system first retrieves relevant documents, then writes its answer using them. Many AI search features work this way, which is why crawlable, relevant pages matter.

It is also why fresh, clearly written pages can be quoted even if the model was never trained on them.
