GLOSSARY

What is llms.txt?

DEFINITION

llms.txt is a proposed plain-text Markdown file at the root of a website that gives language models a short, curated guide to the site’s most useful pages. It is cheap to publish and good practice, but major assistants have not confirmed they use it as a ranking signal.

Treat it as documentation for machines, not a shortcut to citations.
